I am a graduate from Cardiff University, the Welsh School of Architecture, where I received a BSc in Architecture and an MSc in Sustainable Building Conservation.
Growing up I had the privilege of travelling to many architecturally diverse cities observing the International Style as well as unique regionalist expressions. Each country inspired me with how they express their cultures and diversity, celebrating their history and future ambitions through their structures. As a result of this, I developed a desire to take part in the aesthetic expression that is architecture.
During my studies in Britain, I’ve had the chance to explore and experience first hand the architecture of the surrounding European counties. Cities such as Vienna, Paris, Granada, Sienna, and Porto, for example, gave me a sense of reassurance that history can remain preserved in architecture - through which the culture and stories it preserves may live on.
In contrast, having spent a greater part of my life in the Lion City, I quickly became aware of how rapidly cities can develop. Recognising how such change and development could leave little trace of a city’s history, I took interest in conservation and the practice of safeguarding culture from vanishing for the sake of technological advancement.
